CHELMSFORD Racecourse has been ranked as one of the Top 10 racecourses in the UK for cheapest entry price, according to the 2025 Racing Post Racecourse Price Index.

Making a return in 2025, the Racing Post Racecourse Price Index has ranked all UK Flat racecourses in terms of their value for money, each rating being decided by considering the respective costs of tickets, pints, burgers and bottles of water, while also taking into account the track’s TripAdvisor rating, walking distance from the nearest train station and, where applicable, the number of plays the track’s top performing artist has received on Spotify.

Chelmsford received an overall score of 71.4 out of 100, making it the joint second best value all-weather track in the UK. Typically, entry into Chelmsford Racecourse costs £15, a figure which puts the track in the UK Top 10 for cheapest ticket price. A pint of Estrella costs £6.50 at the track, while a burger with chips is £8.50, the sixth cheapest available burger at a racecourse in the country, and a bottle of water can be purchased for £2.60.

The Essex track is 3.2 miles away from the nearest train station, has Armand Van Helden – a DJ with 5.4 million plays on Spotify – playing on-course this August and has an overall TripAdvisor rating of 3.8 stars.

A spokesperson for Racing Post said: “Chelmsford Racecourse is a great venue for both racing and music, not least because the price of entry is so reasonable at just £15.

“It might not be the easiest to get to on the train, but parking is free, and I would personally walk a lot further than three and miles to see racing and Armand Van Helden for £15…!”
