ORMISTON Park Academy, part of Ormiston Academies Trust, is celebrating after their Under 16 Basketball team won the National School Championship following a perfect season.
The team secured their place as the best school in the country with a 78-61 victory over Northampton School for Boys at the final in Manchester. The national title follows their triumph in the Essex Cup just a week earlier, where they defeated Barking Abbey in a fiercely contested final in Chelmsford, making them county champions for the third year running.

Progressing through the National Schools competition with a perfect record of 10-0, Ormiston Park Academy’s team faced tough opponents from across the country, but their skill, teamwork and determination set them apart, culminating in a dominant final performance.
In the national final, the young athletes delivered an outstanding team performance. Tijus set the pace early with several key baskets, while Naglis and Nicholas’s strong defensive efforts kept the opposition’s shooting under pressure. At half-time, Ormiston Park led by 13 points, with Aiden and Kajus contributing to the scoreboard.

The standout performance of the day came from Oskaras , who scored an incredible 42 points, claimed 13 rebounds, and made five steals, earning him the title of Most Valuable Player (MVP).
The team’s success reflects Ormiston Park Academy’s wider commitment to providing students with opportunities to excel, build confidence and develop skills that will serve them in all areas of life.
Munira Said, Principal at Ormiston Park Academy, said:
“We are immensely proud of our basketball team and everything they have achieved this season. Their success is the result of years of hard work, dedication and an unwavering commitment to excellence. More than just winning titles, they have shown resilience, teamwork and leadership – qualities that will serve them far beyond the court. We look forward to continuing to build on this success, inspiring the next generation of young athletes.”
