ST. Luke’s Hospice welcomed the local community to a Garden Party on Saturday 5th July at its Basildon hospice; the second of two special events held to mark the charity’s 35th Anniversary.

Celebrating on the grounds of the first hospice site, St. Luke’s Hospice invited the community to help commemorate the 35th
anniversary of the charity welcoming its first patient, and to thank all those who have been part of its journey.
Among the many attendees were Trudy Westmore-Cox, Co-Founder of St. Luke’s Hospice; the Mayor of Basildon Allan Davies; the Mayor of Thurrock Sue Shinnick; local MP Richard Holden;
Hospice Trustees past and present, supporters, partners and both established and new friends.
Guests enjoyed a range of family-friendly entertainment and activities, local business stalls, the showing of a specially created film of staff memories, and delicious refreshments
throughout the afternoon.
Eileen Marshall, CEO of St. Luke’s Hospice, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who came to our Garden Parties to mark 35 years of St. Luke’s Hospice. It’s been truly special
to reconnect with our community, past and present staff, volunteers and supporters. There’s still so much to look forward to as we continue celebrating and reflecting throughout the year. This has been a moment to celebrate everything we’ve accomplished –
and to look ahead to the future of compassionate palliative and end of life care in our community.”
