THURROCK’S very own motivational speaker Jag Singh has released a paperback version of his epic book ‘Unbreakable’. He first released the eBook version almost five years ago, and now he has revised, updated and converted the eBook into a paperback version.
Jag first wrote the words to his book almost 22 years ago. The book takes us back in time to the 1970s and shows us the life he lived as an eight-year-old boy witnessing racism at its peak in the UK.
The book entails the bullying; physical and mental abuse Jag endured during his childhood. The main purpose of the book is to illustrate the true impact of bullying, racism and mental torture. During his childhood, Jag witnessed his house being burnt down by the skinheads. Jag and his family’s only crime according to the racists was the colour of their skin. As the fire spread, Jag made himself a promise, and that was to be an ambassador for anti-bullying, anti-racism and to support people with mental health challenges when he grew up. Jag has gone on to work as a volunteer for the NSPCC (the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) and conducted many seminars and workshops in our schools in Essex. He has also volunteered for many charitable TV and Radio stations in Essex and London, hosting and producing his very own motivational shows.

In his book Jag relives the 1970s and reveals the brutal experiences he and his family witnessed on a regular basis. Jag and his family lived in Canning Town, East London, and they were among the first Indian families to reside in Canning Town. At this time London was overflowing with the notorious skinheads who caused havoc by physically and mentally abusing UK immigrant’s, encouraged by the far-right, fascist political party The National Front.
Jag and his brother were bullied in school everyday as they were the only Indian-Sikh children in the whole entire school. There were no other ethnics, all the other children were white-British children. Not only were they physically and mentally abused by the students, but the teachers were no different, in fact they were worse. The abuse didn’t stop at school, their windows at home got smashed on a regular basis and life-threatening leaflets were posted through their letterbox every week.
The book has been supported by many helpful organisations such as the NSPCC, Samaritans, MIND and many others. These organisations have kindly agreed to be listed in the ‘Support Groups’ index within the book. Jag puts his hands together and pleads for any individuals suffering from bullying, racism or mental health conditions to reach out to these organisations. Nobody should suffer in silence.
In order to continue his ‘promise’ he made as an eight-year-old, Jag is also planning to reach out to schools, colleges and universities to engage in seminars and workshops to speak about the impact of bullying, racism and mental health issues. He is a man on a mission to leave this world a much better place than he found it. ‘Unbreakable’ is part of a trilogy and Jag is looking to release Book Two in December.
