THE Essex Chief Constable has issued a statement on the attack on synagogue in Manchester.
Mr BJ Harrington said: “On behalf of Essex Police, our thoughts and sympathies are with those affected by the horrific attack outside the synagogue in Greater Manchester.
I know the impact will be felt greatly by the Jewish community here in Essex and further afield on the High Holy Day of Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish Calendar.

We will do everything to keep our communities safe.
We are working very closely with partners and will have additional patrols and resources at synagogues and in key areas of the county today and throughout the coming days.
This is not because there is any intelligence to suggest an incident is likely in Essex, but for officers to be a reassuring presence for our communities who we know are concerned and alarmed by the incident today.
I want to commend Greater Manchester Police and all the emergency services for their response.
I would remind everyone to report anything suspicious to us straight away.
