JAMES McMurdock, Member of Parliament for South Basildon and East Thurrock, was delighted to attend the official opening of the new Thurrock Community Diagnostic Centre on Friday, joining NHS representatives, the Health Minister – Zubir Ahmed MP, the Mayor of Thurrock and key individuals involved in the creation of the site.

The new centre is a major milestone for local healthcare, enabling faster access to diagnostic tests and reducing wait times in the local area. The facility brings together advanced imaging and testing services, helping patients to receive quicker diagnoses and treatment closer to the community.

Speaking after the opening, James said: “It’s fantastic to see this vital new facility open its doors to the community. The Thurrock Community Diagnostic Centre will make a real difference to patients across the area. I’d like to thank everyone involved in bringing this project to life, from the dedicated NHS teams to the local partners who made it possible.”

During the visit, James toured the new facilities with NHS leaders to learn more about how the centre will support thousands of patients each year.

James added. “I’ve had the opportunity to see the development of this new centre while it’s been underway, and the transformation is truly incredible. To now see it open and helping thousands of people is a real testament to the dedication of everyone involved. This is exactly the kind of investment our local community needs, bringing essential healthcare services closer to home.”

The opening of this important service in our local area forms part of a wider national initiative to expand access to diagnostic testing across England, in order to detect conditions earlier and reduce pressure on hospitals.
