THURROCK Labour councillors have worked alongside the Royal British Legion to ensure that the Thurrock residents who gave their lives in service, and who are laid to rest here, are remembered with dignity.
Councillors have contributed £200 to support the placing of crosses on the CommonwealthWar graves of themen and women who served and fell. It is a simple act, but one that recognises the freedoms we hold because of them.
Deputy Leader of Thurrock Council, Cllr Lee Watson, said:
“We are very sympathetic to the sacrifice made by so many, and the impact that sacrifice continues to have on families and communities today. This contribution is small, but it matters. It ensures that those who gave everything are not forgotten.
“I encourage people to support the Poppy Appeal and to wear their poppies with pride. Our annual acts of remembrance give us the moment to pause, reflect, and honour those who served in our name.
“The Royal British Legion and other ex-service organisations support our veterans every single day. They deserve our thanks, our respect, and our continued support.”
