RESPONDING to today’s Budget, Jen Craft, Labour MP for Thurrock, said:

“Today, the Chancellor took another step in our mission to bring down the cost of living for people in Thurrock.

“This was a Labour Budget, targeted on making a difference for the hardworking families that need it most. It protects motorists by maintaining a cut to fuel duty, brings down household energy bills, saves commuters money with frozen rail fares, and delivers a pay rise to thousands of workers.

“It will bring more opportunity to our area, with new investment in apprenticeships to ensure young people aren’t held back from pursuing good jobs.

“And it took a landmark step to tackle child poverty, lifting the two-child benefit cap that will raise living standards for thousands of children in Thurrock and beyond.

“These decisions were made possible by a drive for fairness in the tax system, cracking down on tax dodgers and asking landlords, gambling companies, and wealthy households to pay their fair share.

“I will keep fighting Thurrock’s corner to ensure this is a Budget that delivers for our area, so everyone in our community feels the difference in their day to day lives.”
