AS 2025 draws to a close, film fans can rest assured there’s plenty to look forward to at Vue Thurrock in 2026 – including hugely anticipated sequels and unmissable new projects from beloved film directors.

Following a hugely popular year for animated and family features, the fun looks set to continue over the next 12 months.
Audiences are invited to play with Woody and Buzz once again in Toy Story 5. Returning on 19 June, the toys face their biggest challenge yet – competing for Bonnie’s attention against her latest plaything: a tablet. Also leaping back into action, everyone’s favourite video game plumber returns in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which sees Mario and friends blast into their most out-of-this-world adventure yet on 3 April.

Even more family adventures heading to the big screen this year include Disney’s live-action retelling of modern classic Moana, which sails into Vue on 10 July; more Minion madness with Minions 3 on 3 July; and the latest feature-length sci-fi venture in the Star Wars universe, The Mandalorian & Grogu, on 22 May.

Meanwhile, everyone’s favourite friendly neighbourhood superhero returns on 31 July as Spider-Man: Brand New Day sees the beloved web-slinger face a new, sinister threat as he swings back into action. Continuing the super heroics, and following the success of 2025’s Superman, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow arrives on 26 July, introducing us to Superman’s feisty cousin Kara Zor-El as the new DC cinematic universe expands with a fun, space-faring adventure.

Blockbusters don’t get any bigger than the return of acclaimed director Christopher Nolan, who, following the bombastic success of Oppenheimer, is back with his most epic release yet. The Odyssey, based on the Greek tale of the same name, sees an all-star cast – including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson and Anne Hathaway – retell the adventure of Odysseus and his dangerous voyage, encountering mythological creatures and a pantheon of perils. The Odyssey heads to Vue on 17 July.

Millie Bridgeman, General Manager at Vue Thurrock, said: “Looking ahead to 2026, it’s clear that fans of the big screen are going to be spoilt for choice. From family favourites to high-octane sequels, musical moments and incredible live productions, there’s something for everyone. Expect familiar faces (and some new ones too) in what is looking to be an eclectic mix of content.”
