ROMFORD Walking FC have expanded their commitment to inclusive football by launching two new weekly Men’s Just Play sessions this season, complementing the club’s existing Women’s Just Play offering and ensuring opportunities are provided for everyone in the local community to enjoy the game.

The initiative has already made a notable impact, helping more people to get involved in football through the ‘Find Football’ platform and creating a welcoming environment for recreational players. The club’s efforts have even gained national recognition, too, featuring on The FA’s ‘TeamWalk’ blog and earning complimentary match tickets as a reward for their dedication.
Jake Fairman, Essex County FA Football Development Officer, praised the club’s achievements, explaining: “Romford Walking have been a great ambassador for the Just Play programme in terms of starting a Male Just Play in addition to their already-existing Women’s Just Play sessions. It’s great to see how the club has grown, and it’s a pleasure to support them in providing Walking Football for their local community.”
Club representative, Bobby Kavanagh, added in The FA blog: “Setting-up a Just Play session is really easy, and the support from the County FA makes a huge difference. We strongly encourage other clubs to get involved – the positive impact on the community is incredible.”
Through the Just Play programme, clubs receive an equipment pack and funding, making it simple to start sessions which promote health, social connection and the enjoyment of football. Find out more at www.essexfa.com, and you can also interact with the Essex County FA on social media.
