BASILDON Council has taken firm enforcement action to address serious and ongoing anti-social behaviour, securing a full injunction and carrying out an eviction following court proceedings and sustained complaints from residents.
On 15 January 2026, officers from the council’s Anti-Social Behaviour and Legal Services teams attended Southend County Court, where a full injunction was granted against a tenant living in the Pitsea Southeast ward.

The injunction followed repeated reports of verbal abuse, threatening behaviour and persistent noise nuisance, which were having a significant and detrimental impact on the local community.
The court order prohibits the individual from continuing this behaviour. Breaching the injunction is a serious offence and may result in further enforcement action, including a fine or imprisonment.
On the same date, officers from the council’s Anti-Social Behaviour Team, working alongside court bailiffs, attended a property in Laindon Park to carry out an eviction. This action followed sustained complaints of serious anti-social behaviour, including loud verbal disturbances, persistent noise nuisance, violent incidents and racial abuse, all of which had an ongoing and severe impact on neighbouring residents.
Prior to taking legal action, the council made repeated attempts to engage with the resident through early intervention measures, with the aim of resolving the issues and preventing escalation. Despite these efforts, the behaviour continued, and court action was ultimately required.
Eviction is always considered a last resort but will be pursued where individuals are unwilling to change their behaviour and where decisive action is necessary to protect residents and maintain safe, respectful communities.
Cllr Kerry Smith, Cabinet Member for Law, Order and Enforcement, said:
“These actions demonstrate our commitment to tackling persistent anti-social behaviour and protecting residents from harm. Where behaviour causes ongoing distress and disrupts people’s daily lives, we will not hesitate to use our legal powers.
“In both cases, the impact on neighbours was serious and sustained. We always seek to resolve issues through early intervention, but where this fails, robust enforcement is necessary to restore safety, confidence and quality of life in our communities.
“Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated in Basildon. Our teams will continue to work proactively with residents and partners to take firm, proportionate action wherever it is needed.”
Residents are encouraged to report anti-social behaviour so it can be investigated and appropriate action taken.
