PARENTS are “coming to blows” over “ridiculous” parking outside an Essex school. Parking outside Brightside Primary School in Billericay is set to be banned after years of ‘unruly’ behaviour from parents.
“Animosity” has been growing in the cul-de-sac, with reports of parents arguing and even fighting. Resident Sally-Anne Scottsman called the situation “disgusting” and said it needed to be sorted out.

“Driveways are blocked, and everyone is just so furious and frustrated,” she said, “It’s not good enough to say it’s being looked into.”
Local councillor Tony Hedley described it as a “no-win” situation and said the community had been calling for change for about five years. He said: “Unless residents agree with a plan, we won’t see any changes. At school times, the parking is ridiculous, and people do not obey the yellow lines.”
South Essex Parking Partnership has been gathering residents’ and families’ views on the need for change. It’s the latest school to be hit with parking issues, with similar schemes rolled out at other schools in the county.
A spokesman for South Essex Parking Partnership confirmed the consultation and plans to ban all-day non-resident parking, introduce residential permits, and protect junctions with double yellow lines.
