FRESH planning amendments have been submitted for a former nursery site in Orsett, paving the way for additional homes on the land report the Local Democracy Reporter.
The applicant Mr Sam Dosanjh, plans to convert the remaining site of Sandown Nurseries in Sandown Road into six two-bed bungalows with associated access, parking and amenity space for residents and families.

The original application was submitted to Thurrock Council in October 2024, and formally approved on May 9, 2025.
Mr Dosanjh submitted his most updated plans for the homes on Friday, May 8 2026.
He outlined changing the roof angle to 35 degrees to allow more internal lighting and include solider coursing to the new homes.
“The S73 application seeks minor adjustments which would assist with build-ability and improve the usability of the first-floor accommodation”, planning documents said.
The planning status is currently “awaiting a decision”.
Situated on green belt land, Sandown Nurseries site is noted to be an ideal location for the approved scheme as it can host parking and amenity space for residents.
According to the applicant, the nursery has been vacant for several years.
A spokesperson from Dosanjh Capital Ventures Ltd said: “If the current application is approved, the immediate focus would be to continue progressing the site in accordance with the planning permission, including the necessary technical and construction stages before the homes are built out.
“We believe the scheme will make good use of a previously developed site and provide a small number of well-designed bungalow homes in Orsett, with off-street parking and private amenity space.
“Bungalows are a housing type that can appeal to a range of residents, including people looking for more accessible accommodation or to downsize locally.
“We are keen to deliver the development carefully and responsibly, and we will continue working through the proper planning and construction process with the council and relevant consultants.”
