PLANS have been revealed for a huge development with more than 1,000 homes, a school, a hotel and a community centre, near an Essex village. The development is planned on farmland near Childerditch Lane in West Horndon, just off the A127 reports the Local Democracy Reporter.
If agreed, the proposals would include a new internal bus service and various parks and open green spaces. The developer says the project would “deliver much-needed new homes” in the area. The plans also include the demolition of two existing homes in Thorndon Avenue.

The plans have been submitted to Brentwood Borough Council and are at the outline stage, meaning details, such as the size of houses, will be a separate application.
The plans add: “New homes will be high quality, sustainable and characterful, set within a network of green streets and corridors that form an extension of the public realm. If agreed, there would also be allotments, community gardens and orchards, a community centre – with businesses such as a local shop, coffee, barber and space for businesses “supporting the local economy by providing well-connected jobs.”
The plans show existing businesses in the centre of the site, which would stay, a new primary school to the north of the site, and space for businesses. The homes would be arranged to the south and east of the development. The hotel would be located in the northwestern edge of the site, “benefiting from visibility and easy access onto the A127.”
