ESSEX & Herts Air Ambulance is inviting motorcyclists from across Essex, Hertfordshire and beyond to sign up for its Motorcycle Run this September.

Taking place on Sunday 6 September 2026, the charity ride will see thousands of bikers come together in support of Essex & Herts Air Ambulance, travelling from the charity’s North Weald Airbase to Kings Farm in Chelmsford before joining the Whirly Birds Family Fun Day.

With the main stage sponsored by Philip Grahame International Ltd, the Motorcycle Run offers riders the opportunity to take part individually, with a pillion passenger, alongside friends or as part of a larger riding group. By taking part, riders will be helping raise vital funds to support the charity’s 24/7 emergency medical service across Essex, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas.

The charity’s crews of highly skilled pilots, critical care paramedics and pre-hospital care doctors bring advanced emergency treatment directly to patients, wherever they are. With no government or national lottery funding, Essex & Herts Air Ambulance relies entirely on the support of local communities to keep the service operational. In 2025 alone, Essex & Herts Air Ambulance responded to 106 motorcycle-related incidents, highlighting the vital role the charity plays in supporting the region’s biking community.

The Motorcycle Run has long been one of Essex & Herts Air Ambulance’s most popular fundraising events, attracting generations of riders and supporters over the years. The event offers bikers the chance to enjoy a shared ride with fellow enthusiasts while helping ensure the charity can continue delivering advanced emergency care to those who need it most.

Adam Carr, Critical Care Paramedic at Essex & Herts Air Ambulance, said “As both a biker and a paramedic, the Motorcycle Run is always a highlight for me. I’ve taken part in the event for many years and have seen first-hand the incredible sense of community that exists within the biking world. Motorcyclists are passionate about looking out for one another and supporting causes that make a real difference. Every rider taking part is helping ensure Essex & Herts Air Ambulance can continue delivering advanced emergency care to those who need it most.

Having attended incidents involving motorcyclists throughout my career, I know just how important it is that specialist critical care can reach patients quickly. The Motorcycle Run is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a great day out with fellow riders while helping to fund a service that is there for people when they need it most.”

Mark Jarman-Howe, CEO of Essex & Herts Air Ambulance, said: “The Motorcycle Run has always been a hugely special event for us and for the biking community that has supported Essex & Herts Air Ambulance for so many years. Motorcyclists understand better than most how important rapid critical care can be, and this event is a fantastic opportunity to bring riders together, celebrate that community spirit and raise vital funds for the charity.

As a charity that receives no government or national lottery funding, events like this play an important role in helping us continue providing life-saving care across our region. Whether you’re riding on your own, with friends, as part of a motorcycle club or alongside fellow enthusiasts, we’d love to welcome you to take part and support Essex & Herts Air Ambulance this September.”

Registration costs £20 per bike or £25 for a bike with a pillion passenger, with all riders receiving an exclusive event snood as part of their registration. Participants are also encouraged to raise a minimum of £20 in sponsorship to further support the charity.

The ride will be fully marshalled and safety managed, with riders receiving a pre-ride safety briefing before setting off from North Weald Airfield.

The ride will finish at Essex & Herts Air Ambulance’s Whirly Birds Family Fun Day (admission included), where riders will join supporters and visitors from across the region for a day of entertainment and fundraising. Tickets are also available to purchase for those wishing to attend the family fun day without taking part in the ride. Taking place at Kings Farm, Chelmsford, the event will feature live entertainment, family activities, food and drink, motorcycle displays and a range of attractions for all ages, providing another fantastic way to support the charity.

Every penny raised will help Essex & Herts Air Ambulance continue providing life-saving emergency medical care across the region, helping keep its helicopters and rapid response vehicles ready to respond when every second counts.
