DIANA Hale will be holding her third Strawberry Tea at Stifford Pumping Station on Davy Down (off Pilgrims Lane) in Thurrock on Sunday July 11th from 1 to 4 pm and everyone is welcome. The Mayor and MP have both been invited but it is a really informal event, no speeches, just food and fun.
Diana was also thrilled to receive an invite to the national strawberry tea at the House of Commons on July 1st in recognition of her fundraising activities since 2008.
Diana was diagnosed, six months after being elected as a Thurrock Councillor, and underwent three operations in 2008 and radiotherapy “I know only too well how terrifying a breast cancer diagnosis can be, and how wonderfully supportive help lines are. It’s just great to be alive and that’s why I am holding another strawberry tea event”
As well as strawberries, scones, jam and cream with tea, there will be a raffle (prizes donated by local shops), a guess the number of hundreds and thousands and a quiz testing your knowledge of strawberries. Davy Down is a lovely setting and the sun has shone on previous years but if it rains we have the lovely Stifford Pumping Station to retreat to. Diana is chair of the Davy Down Trust.
Breast Cancer Care (registered charity 1017658) provides free support and information for those affected by a diagnosis and every penny raised by events like mine will help the charity to continue their great work.
But if you can’t make Diana’s event it’s really easy to host your own by downloading tips from: www.breastcancercare.org.uk/strawberry.
