NO WE don’t know what the Big Society means either. All we know is that the good people of Scratton Road thought it would be a good idea to have a street party in the way we used to at the time of the Silver Jubilee. People aren’t less friendlier, times are just a little bit different.
Everyone on the street chose a different country as flags from across the word flew high in the Stanford-le-Hope street.
It looked like great fun. We spoke to one of the organisers, Rob Groves and the ubiquitous Deputy Mayor Eddie Hardiman about the day.
