DEREK Tunstead and Scott Denham both secured their epic Round 4 victory on their second playoff hole at the South Essex Golf Club in Brentwood to secure an exciting day of additional competition at the famous Walton Heath Golf Club at Walton-on-the-Hill, Tadworth, Surrey on July 15th 2022.

Walton Heath has seen some of the finest tournaments in the world played there, including U.S. Open Qualifying rounds, European Opens, Senior Open Championships as well as hosting the Ryder Cup in 1981.

The Belhus Park Golf Club duo secured three victories in the pairs tournament prior to their knife edge 2nd play-off hole at South Essex, and all of them close games and at courses that they were less familiar with going into the tournament.

Round 1: A 1up win at Top Meadow Golf Club, North Ockendon, Essex
Round 2: A 2&1 win at Burnham on Crouch Golf Club, Burnham on Crouch, Essex
Round 3: A 1up win at Three Rivers Golf Club, Cold Norton, Essex

Speaking of their incredible achievement, Derek Tunstead said “One of the really great things about being a member at Belhus Park Golf Club is the massive array of golf days that the club has to offer. We are blessed with a brilliant member base and the course has now embraced us all to keep it in the condition that we all enjoy. My partner, Scotty Denham and I have really enjoyed this competition, that we entered outside of the normal competitions held at the club, and through four rounds of really close golf we managed to pull through to get the final round 4 victory. The confidence that we both gain from being a part of such a special Golf Club really inspired us to have a go at this one, which is a National competition and so I would recommend to anyone, low or high handicapper, to come along to the club to see what we are all about. It really is a great Golf Club with Great People of all ages and abilities.

Finally, I would like to say a huge thank you to my playing partner Scotty who has been absolutely brilliant throughout the tournament. Thanks Scotty. Now on to the big one mate!”

Belhus Park Golf Club would like to congratulate both Derek and Scott for their achievements and to wish them the very best of luck for their game at Walton Heath later this year.
