THE funding from Barratt and David Wilson Homes has been used to support the hospice’s core service delivery, helping it continue its vital work in the community.

Farleigh Hospice has been providing free care and support to those affected by life-limiting illnesses and bereavement since 1982.

In the past year, the charity supported more than 1,500 patients in their homes, carried out over 14,000 visits, and delivered nearly 29,000 hours of care. It also offered counselling and bereavement services to more than 500 adults and young people.

Debbie de Boltz, Head of Fundraising at Farleigh Hospice, said: “We were absolutely thrilled when Barratt and David Wilson Homes got in touch to say we had been chosen to receive the donation.

“Without the support of businesses, we would not be able to continue providing all our services. Donations like this are vital for the Hospice as we rely on the generosity of the local community to ensure we can be there for those who need our services.”

Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ donation was made as part of its Community Fund scheme via The Barratt Foundation, which is run by its parent company, Barratt Redrow Plc. The scheme is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.

Debbie added: “The Community Fund is an excellent scheme. These donations make such a difference to local charities and give staff the opportunity to help their local community.

“A huge thank you to Barratt and David Wilson Homes for its support. The generosity of its team ensures we can continue to be there for the local community when they need us most.”

The developer has supported the hospice in a variety of ways over the years, including building a new garden room for patients and, more recently, donating Easter eggs to bring a little seasonal cheer to those receiving care.

Tom Wright, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties, said: “We are proud to support Farleigh Hospice with this donation. The charity does incredible work in Essex, providing vital care and support to people during the most difficult times.

“Our Community Fund initiative gives us the chance to give back to the people and organisations that make a real difference in our area, and we are pleased to be able to contribute to Farleigh’s essential services.”
