Grays Athletic 1 v 1 Chelmsford City

GRAYS Ath stretched an unbeaten run to five matches with Wednesday evening’s (1 October) draw at Chadfields against Chelmsford City.

Since their league defeat at Concord Rangers on 13 September (which was avenged with a subsequent Velocity Trophy win) Grays have shown resilence aplenty and will go into this coming Saturday;’s FA Trophy third qualifying round clash at Hanwell Town with some hope.

However, they may feel an opportunity went begging against Cambridge after Harry Hope fired Grays into a 14th minute lead from the penalty spot.

They were unable to build on that and Solomon Ofori eqaulised for the visitors four minutes into the second half.

The draw leaves Grays in the drop zone, third from bottom and just a place above Brightlingsea Regent, who are their next league opponents with a trip east on Tuesday, 7 October.
