NATIONAL League South leaders, Hornchurch, now know they will host Hashtag United in the Quarter-Finals of the BBC Essex Senior Cup after the draw was broadcast by the competition’s supporters on Friday (21st November).
The Urchins, the highest-ranked team left in the competition, won 4-0 against Grays Athletic at home in the last round and they now travel to face The Tags, who held off a brave fightback to win 4-3 at Witham Town last time out.
All the remaining clubs will be aiming to advance past this stage and earn a semi-final to look forward to in the New Year. Elsewhere in the draw, Maldon & Tiptree, who recorded an impressive 3-0 win at Isthmian League Premier Division high-fliers, Brentwood Town, in the last round, now travel to Aveley in the last eight. Aveley are just behind Brentwood in the table.
Great Wakering Rovers, 3-0 winners at home to Heybridge Swifts in the Fourth Round, will entertain a Chelmsford City side progressing well in the FA Cup, who required penalties to advance at Bowers & Pitsea. Billericay Town returned home from Little Oakley with a 2-1 victory in Round Four. They now host Tilbury, victors by the only goal of the game at home to Harwich & Parkeston.
Two guests assisted with the draw proceedings. Mark Wallis, from the Essex County FA’s Cups & Competitions Department, drew out the home clubs, while Victoria Polley from BBC Essex was responsible for the away sides. Meanwhile, it has also been confirmed that the BBC Essex Senior and BBC Essex Women’s Cup finals have been arranged as follows:
