ESSEX’S young women with a passion for football have an exciting opportunity to develop their leadership skills and make a real difference in their communities, as The FA’s ‘Rising Leaders’ Programme is now open for applications for 2026!
This unique programme is designed for ethnically-diverse young women aged 16-19 who are passionate about coaching football. Whether you’re an aspiring coach, or you’re already actively involved in coaching, Rising Leaders will equip you with the confidence, knowledge and skills to become a role model and ‘changemaker’ both on and off the pitch.

Participants will experience:
two inspiring three-night residentials (all accommodation and meals provided)
workshops and activities focused on leadership, self-belief and personal growth
specialist coach development sessions to enhance skills and confidence
ongoing support from The FA, including additional CPD (Continuing Professional Development) opportunities
hands-on impact in the local football community, delivering sessions and inspiring others
The programme will run between February and May 2026, with residential dates from Friday 13th to Monday 16th February 2026, then a second residential (and possible graduation) from Thursday 21st to Sunday 24th May 2026. To apply, you must be an ethnically-diverse female aged 16-19, be passionate about coaching and be available to attend both residentials.
