THURROCK MP, Jen Craft, is asking residents in Tilbury to share their views on how £20 million of new investment should be spent in the area.
The funding – secured by Mrs Craft through Labour’s Landmark Pride in Place Programme – will be put in the hands of the local community.
The borough MP has launched a survey, so people in Tilbury can begin a conversation about how the money should be used. The survey can be found here:https://www.jencraftmp.co.uk/campaign/tilburyprideinplace/
It asks residents to share their ideas for the investment and put forward suggestions for members of the Neighbourhood Board, which will manage the funding.

The Neighbourhood Board, made up of Tilbury residents and community representatives, will receive £2 million of funding every year for the next decade.
The Pride in Place funding is flexible, with potential uses including:
- Re-instating services like the Tilbury Ferry
- Supporting community organisations and local charities
- Backing small businesses and creating job opportunities
- Introducing more training and education opportunities for local people
- Introducing more training and education opportunities for local people
Tilbury is one of 339 areas to benefit from the scheme, which represents a historic investment of £5bn in neighbourhoods up and down the country.
Mrs Craft, Labour MP for Thurrock, said:
“To me, it’s just common sense that this funding should be put in the hands of the people who know the area best – Tilbury residents.
“I am absolutely determined that local families, who’ve lived and worked in Tilbury for decades, get to decide how the money is spent.
“Labour’s Pride in Place Programme is a genuine opportunity to change Tilbury for the better, so please fill out my survey to let me know what you want to see done first.”
