AN extraordinary general meeting of Ryman League clubs voted unanimously this morning to expel Division One North club Leyton.

The club have been suspended for some time because of debts to the league and had indicated their wish to withdraw their first team while continuing to play in the Youth League, a proposal the other clubs found unacceptable.

The biggest losers are Tilbury who beat Leyton twice this season and so lose six points.

Boss Paul Vaughan remains undaunted. He said: “We know how well we have been playing since the new year.

“If we continue in that vein, we will march back up the table.”

Grays Ath beat Leyton 1-0 away in September. The Blues now find themselves six points off the play off places.

East Thurrock are the winners as they are now just one point behind the leaders Needham Market. The Suffolk side beat Leyton 8-0 so suffer a double whammy of three points and a massive goal difference eroded.
