NOMINATIONS for the local elections will open on Monday.
Sixteen seats will be contested on Thursday, May 5.
There will also be a national referendum on whether a system of proportional representation should be adopted.
There are no local elections in four wards of the borough this year, Little Thurrock Blackshots, Orsett, South Chafford, and Tilbury St Chad’s.
Candidates have until noon on April 4 to submit their nominations.
The council will announce the list at noon on April 6.
