Tilbury 1 Redbridge 1 (att 75)

A late own goal earned saw Redbridge gain a hard-fought point against Tilbury to keep up their play-off aspirations. Paul Vaughan made 2 chnages to his line bringing in Tom Wraight and Paul King replaci gnrh unavailable Bradley Barnes and Tom Webb.

With both sides aiming for a play off spot, both sides shared the spoils in what was somewhat of a dull encounter.

Redbridge started the stronger and should have been in front after just a few minutes when Joe Gardner brought off a good save from ex Redbridge keeper James Marrable following Matt Turpin’s initial effort hitting the post

Tilbury had to wait until 24 minutes for their first chance which came when another ex Motorman Gary Henty hit just over from 6 yards out. It was the away side however who were having the best of the first half and they had another good chance to score when Mitchell Das hit over with the entire goal at his mercy.

After the break Tilbury’s Steve Good (another former Redbridge player) went close with a long range effort but the deadlock was finally broken on 70 minutes when the home side took the lead when Tom Webb’s first touch after coming off the bench, his free kick found Alex Read to slot home unmarked. You will not need me to tell you that he also previously played for Redbridge !!

With the match coming to an end both sides had chances but with the game deep in to injury time, a James Robinson cross from the right found defender Dockers defender Conor Mead who unluckily hit the ball into his own net with a Redbridge forward breathing down his neck.

The goal was reward for the away side late dominance and a draw seemed the right result on the day leaving both sides remaining just outside the play off zone. Other results however went for both sides so the point will be seen as a good point in the grand scheme of things.

The result saw Tilbury move in to 8th place and back in the pack of play off rivals, with only one point separating a number of clubs. On Tuesday night Tilbury welcome Soham Town Rangers.

After the game, Tilbury manager Paul Vaughan commented “It was always important we did not lose. We worked hard with an excellent hardworking performance”
