Have your say on the plans for Thurrock

Thurrock Council is asking local people for their thoughts on the many different types of development sites in the borough.

As well as an online consultation (www.thurrock.gov.uk) the council’s strategic planning team is attending various events to hear what people have to say and to explain the complexities of what is involved.

The next weeks’ events are detailed below, but the full list can also be found online at the council site and through the strategic planning pages.

Members of the team will be happy to speak with residents and help answer questions at the events.

The Site Specific Allocations and Policies Development Plan Document – “Issues and Options” draft sets out in detail the council’s assessment of all the different types of development sites required to deliver the policies of the agreed Core Strategy

It designates areas of land for particular uses such as: housing, employment, retail, community facilities, transport, and open space.

The consultation runs until Friday, 8 June.

More locations are likely to be added once following the consultation, while others could be removed.

  1. Is there any point in expressing your views about the future of Thurrock?
After all, look what happened about Orsett Hospital and Woodview opposition….
    ignored!

  2. Complete waste of time, TBC will do whatever they want to do and be damned with any public views against them…

  3. I will certainly be going to one of these evenings, the more people that turn up the better. But then again looking at the Woodview decision…

  4. I went to one of these kind of things when they were talking about the mass redevelopment of Ockendon. The officers/ representatives I spoke to were totally disinterested in anything I, or anyone else, had to say. I suspect that this latest set of consultations will be no different. After all, we live here already, they are only interested in making room for thousands and thousands of newcomers who will be paying lots and lots of council tax. As ever, follow the money.

  5. I find ‘regeneration’ tends to work best when the plans are small, fit in with their environment and do not swallow up green land. If the council stuck to such simple rules there would probably be little need to consult all the boroughs residents. But since Thurrock has become Essex’s developers haven events like this are needed.
