INDEPENDENT candidate for Aveley and Uplands, Rev Alan Field has slammed the Thurrock Tories for telling “Outright lies” to potential voters.
The community leader claims that the Tories have told residents in the ward that former mayor and Aveley councillor, Colin Churchman is supporting their candidate, Colin Adams.
Rev Field spoke to YT to put the record straight.
Mr Churchman has also gone on record. He said: “I am supporting Alan Field. I have been helping with his campaign and hope Alan gets elected as he has put in sterling work for the community and would be a great asset as a councillor.
The Thurrock Conservatives are not available for interview.
I just have a few words for The Rev Alan Field…..for a man of the cloth may I suggest he reads the Gospel of St John… Let he without sin cast the first stone….he mentions he has read YT and Blogs…did he read the one where Wendy Curtis was spreading malicious gossip re Councillor Lynn Carr? Did he read about Councillor Charles Curtis letting the children down re the Mould issue….I could write a book about the lies that Thurrock run Labour council have told to me let alone many other residents in the same positiion.
I find that Labour are only interested in furnishing their own ego..once they are in they forget all their promises.
Flower, don’t worry about gossip, worry about the possibility of your details being given away. There are rumors a candidate who was flirting with one of the political parties last year giving away confidential electorial information.
Mr Barnes… My comment was for the Rev Alan Field. He obviously listens to gossip which for a man in his position it should not happen. What I do not understand Mr Barnes why you have addressed this comment to me. Now you are spreading gossip….something I do not hold with whether rightly or wrongly……do not include my name in rumours. Clearly councillors from both Labour and the Tories comment on here. It should and does come accross that both parties councillors appear to be a steaming pile of manure with their own self interest at heart. If there are independent councillors out their that are turly independent of both these parties, people should vote for them. Councillors hold a position of power and spend taxpayers money, very badly it may be. This shower have no respect among the public. I wouldn’t unrinate on them if they were on fire.

jonno66….I would like to point out that I am an ordinary tenant..not politically minded….the reason I commented on this article was to portray my feelings to Rev Field of the disappointment I felt as a Christian of his wording and the way he is falling into the trap of lies and gossip. I do not wish to know who was flirting with whom … who is lying about who whether Labour or Tories I make my own decision of who I trust and I do not need the nastiness that is being dished out. I only hope the ordinary person like myself can see through all this garbage and let us act like grown ups.

@Flower: Pastor Alan Field never said that he’s not sinner, he’s just a man trying to do the right thing. I believe the reason he publicly spoke about this issue is simply to give the correct information: Mr Churchmanis endorsing Alan Field. This is a fact. If conservative candidates go around telling people he’s endorsing them this is not the truth. This is another fact.
Secondly I understand your feelings of disappointment I don’t think that Mr Field is gossiping here and I am sure he would say exactly the same thing directly to the people if they had the courage to say it in front of him.
Alan Field is not Labour or Conservatives or affiliated to any political party for that matter. He is only interested in working for the people of Aveley as he has been doing for that past 12 years. You can contact him directly on his website or in the streets of Aveley and he will be more than happy to explain why it is not fair having people claiming an endorsement they don’t actually have.
Being truly independent is not easy but if there is one candidate that I trust in and I truly believe is independent is Alan Field.
Flower`s comments is puzzling. Where you there Flower when the rumours were made? Sounds like a guilty response after a nerve was hit.
Is it only me or Tories` Thurrock Gazzete campaign ad is misleading as it talks about Labour Maxing the Nation`s credit card surely this is a local election and Councillors wont have a say in the national budget. UKIP`s slogan is putting Britain 1st (surely not ahead of the local wards I hope as this defeats the object of a local election). Labour is rather quiet. Seems Alan is rattling cages with his past solid involvement in Aveley, it sure sound like the guy that is prepared to fight for us at council level.

I do no know what goes on behind closed doors and for what I have seen on YT I don’t want to know.all I am interested in is living in a decent environment with a decent run council …too much to ask?
Flower, I guess we are all interested in the same thing, living in a good environment and a well run council which starts with fair campaigns. I understand where you are coming from but your anger might be misplaced. If you go and have a look at Mr Field’s website (easily found on google). I am convinced that you will see Alan Field is not the candidate at whom we should be angry, frustrated and disappointed. if you read his pledge, understand his motivations and see what is fighting for, The Well-being of the People of Aveley you may change your mind about his intentions. He’s good a good heart and a genuine passion for Aveley. Have a look and then let us know what you really think of the ONLY truly independent candidate. I believe he deserves a chance.
Flower no one is being nasty but your comments seem one sided. You seem to be criticising Alan without really looking into whether his claims are at least 50% plausible (Tories Never Lie) hence I assumed you must have been at the situation in question. If you weren’t, then surely you are ironically worse than the one you are criticising.

To Collin Barnes I am not surprised because some Aveley residents have received letters from the Tory Head office asking for their Postal votes to be sent by free post to the Tory head office. Voting should be anonymous. The data will most likely be held which is a marketing tactics that allowes the conservatives a more targeted campaign for the future and an unfair campaign advantage.
I believe this story stems from the idiot Conservative activists who was telephone canvassing and who phoned up one of Mr Churchman’s relatives and told them that even the former Mayor Colin Churchman was supporting the Conservatives. Whoops!
I reckon we’ll hear of certain Tories throwing their laptops in the water next to try hide their guilt from accessing information they shouldnt have got their dirty mitts on ?.
