Val bites back at the “petty” Tories

NOW THAT deputy leader of Thurrock Council has completed her unsuccessful bid to become police commissioner (Val did win Thurrock and Harlow-Ed), the portfolio holder for Housing has gone back on the attack over Conservative criticism regarding housing offices.

Cllr Morris-Cook said: “Once again we see cllr Phil Anderson playing the petty politics game for the sake of it, trying to create a problem where there isn’t one for his own political game.

“What Cllr Anderson fails to mention in his release is that this matter was fully discussed by the new Housing Overview and Scrutiny committee, chaired by his Conservative colleague Rob Gledhill and featuring other members of his party.

“They approved the plan and were happy with its aims and improved service levels that are now being offered to residents.

We have not had one single complaint about the closure of the offices, but we have had a number of residents delighted that they have been able to receive one-to-one help and advice by meeting with officers.

“I would suggest Cllr Anderson seeks the advice of his colleagues or speaks to those directly affected rather than making mischief with random and unjustified comments in order to raise his diminishing political credibility.”

  1. She’s back in that weird leather get up again. What does she get up to in that park. Can’t imagine for one minute she’d be trying to score political points.

  2. I am so fed up of reading stories about this cllr. She is not even the leader of the Labour group but clearly has ambitions to be the amount of time she appears in the local media.

Note to Val – Stop filling YTs column inches with dross and start managing those 3000 housing repairs instead.

  3. This councillor reminds of another councillor with a similar name who filled YT with photo opportunities and stories.

  4. Oh dear, she lost the PCC and now wants to try and drag her portfolio back up to date, what this woman wont do for a photo opportunity is beyond me, Perman is right, this is like history repeating itself.
