FIRE CREWS ARE in attendance at the derelict Dominoes gym and snooker site at 76 High Street, Grays.
The site has been derelict for a number of years.
Fire officers received a call from Grays resident, Polly Billington (the prospective parliamentary Labour candidate for Thurrock) at just after 9.30pm on Monday night (May 20th).
Polly said: “I was walking home from Grays railway station to my flat. As I was passing by the building, I could smell a strong burning odour.
I looked through the window and saw a person in the smoke-filled building. They did not seem particularly bothered.
I called 999. Both fire and police attended very quickly. They searched building, secured scene and put the fire out.”
