THURROCK Marching Brass attended their very first parade contest today which saw them march through a very busy and appreciative high street in Tonbridge, Kent. Competing Against SIX other parade bands, they were awarded a bronze trophy which is also their first trophy achievement for 2013.
Judges lined the procession as the kids played two pieces from their 2013 competitive program, as well as some additional tunes that they had learned just for the event which went down really well with both the crowd and the judges alike. By far the youngest band there but that didn’t deter the kids from really enjoying their performance and everyone involved in the organisation are extremely pleased and proud of their collective efforts today. Congratulations also to Darren Crisp and his amazing team of dedicated staff for working so hard with the kids and preparing them for this parade band contest.
Speaking of the performance today, Thurrock Marching Brass’ Chairman, Paul Morgan said “It never ceases to amaze me just what very young kids are able to achieve when they are given the right guidance and support. I couldn’t be any prouder of the progression of the band to date, and all credit for this must go to our incredible Corps
Director, Darren Crisp and his team for their tireless dedication.
It’s not easy working with very young kids, but I can say with absolute resolution that when you see the fruits of all that hard work put in by everyone, it all makes that effort so worthwhile. I am looking forward to see the band develop throughout 2013 and would encourage anyone who lives in the Thurrock Area to get in touch and come and have a go. Our primary age range is between 6 and 16 years and the cost of being involved is arguably the cheapest in the UK for this type of activity”.
Thurrock Marching Brass’ next performance will be at Stifford Clays School Fete on 22 June 2013. If you are able to please come along and cheer them on as they will be unveiling their 2013 competitive Show for the first time.
