Thurrock 1 v 3 AFC Sudbury
Ryman North Division
Bill Robinson was at Ship Lane…
NOT the most impressive starts for Thurrock. The first twenty minutes they looked comfortable on the ball and were passing the ball around but when AFC Sudbury scored on 17 minutes, the game began to swing in favour of the visitors.
The goal came from nowhere when Sudbury attacked wide on the right and the ball came across Thurrock failed to clear and it was Ben Thompson who reacted quickest and fired a shot in off the far post.
As half time approached Thurrock seemed at a loss as to how to break through the Sudbury defence. With over three minutes of added time, the ball was played into the Sudbury penalty area where Lewwis Spence looked to shoot but instead laid the ball to his left for Joel Nouble to strike home.
The second half followed a similar pattern and as the game went on the visitors looked the more likely to score, then on 72 minutes when Ryan Henshaw finished off a splendid move with strike from close range leaving keeper Reece Ottley stranded on his goal line.
The visitors moved into overdrive looking to secure the win and when Scott Mitchell went up for a corner his powerful header flew at high speed into the net off the underside of the bar.
