A SENIOR Thurrock councillor has defended the council’s record on fly-tipping.
Portfolio holder, cllr Phil Smith was responding to a question from Orsett councillor, Sue Little at a recent council meeting.
In a somewhat underwhelming performance, cllr Smith could not tell the chamber how many people had actually been prosecuted, which some may find surprising as he is paid £15,000 allowance on top of his daytime job.
Later this week, Thurrock Council will discuss a proposal to reduce the Linford tip from seven days a week to four days a week.

That will really increase fly-tipping!
Also heard that TC are considering changing some of the wheelie bin collections to fortnightly.
When are they going to clear up the rubbish left by he travellers in Chadwell St Mary?
Travellers and their rubbish all cleared up in Chadwell St Mary now. Thank you TC!
So will TC be prosecuting the travellers for fly-tipping?
