Lansdowne Primary delighted with feedback from Ofsted

    LANSDOWNE Primary Academy was praised by one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors at a visit on 5th November 2014. The inspector, Julie Winyard, praised the progress made since the last inspection saying;

    “Senior leaders, governors and the Chief Executive of the Gateway Learning Community have taken immediate action to make improvements since the last inspection.”

    She noted that the action plan created after the last inspection “focussed precisely” on issues and praised the work carried out to improve lesson planning and in modelling good and better teaching. She also saw improvements in handwriting, presentation and marking.

    Special Educational needs was singled out for particularly good progress. HMI stated;

    “There has been a vast improvement in the leadership and management of special educational needs since the inspection. The special needs leader has completely revamped how pupils’ needs are identified and how they are supported.” She concluded by saying that “As a result of these improvements, pupils’ progress has improved dramatically since the start of the term.”

    She identified and suggested some further improvements in how handwriting can be taught and in making the most of marking

    The Executive Principal, Richard Epps said “I am so proud of the staff and pupils and thank the Gateway Learning Community for all the support they have given our school.”

    The Principal, Monique Anderson said “The report has highlighted that all staff are committed to making improvements in the key areas for action. They are continuing to do this on a daily basis so that our pupils can achieve great things. I am really proud of our staff and pupils."ʺ

    Mr Sadler, The Gateway Learning Community CEO added; “We are thrilled with the progress that Lansdowne Primary Academy is making. With continued hard work from staff and the commitment of pupils and parents, we expect the school to go from strength to strength”.

    Chair of Governors, Ade Shodipe said: “Teaching across the school is good and some of it is now outstanding. It has improved considerably since the previous inspection as a result of clear-­‐‑sighted and determined leadership by the leadership and governors.”
