A THURROCK businesswoman has come second in a poll of Essex businesses.
MD of Sales Scene, Caroline Thomas grabbed the silver medal beating a whole host of other top entrepreneurs in the county.
Some 563 people took part in the poll, which was organised to mark Global Entrepreneurship Week.
Caroline said: "I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for me. I’m absolutely delighted to be recognised as a top Essex Entrepreneur amongst such a field of excellent business leaders.
Setting up a business in Thurrock four years ago has been both exciting and challenging and it’s a journey that I’m really enjoying, and I’m very grateful to the support that I have received to date, including the business support initiatives provided by Thurrock Council and Growth Accelerator and the hard work and dedication of my brilliant team!"
Cllr Kevin Bentley, Essex County Council Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Infrastructure, said: “Congratulations to all the winners. It has been a fantastic response to the poll, which I think is testament to the fact that it is well recognised that Essex is a county of innovation and entrepreneurship.”
Voters were asked to choose from a list of 21 Essex entrepreneurs, ranging from well-known long-established people including Lord Sugar, to new starters, such as Jamie Clarke, from Harlow, who has set up a horticultural biodome business.
The poll was part of the Essex Means Business campaign, which aims to showcase innovation, skills and entrepreneurship in Essex.
