Thurrock’s good start to the season took a blow when they went down 1-0 at home to Needham Market.
In what was a keenly contested game, the game was won in the 73rd minute when a long kick down the left saw Sam Newson rise with two defenders only for the ball to fall to Luke Ingram who neatly passed the ball into the net.
Thurrock will be frustrated as for long periods they dominated and were competitive. They will want to avoid last season’s habit of dropping silly points on too many occasions.
