DESPITE injuries and suspensions Tilbury could not see off Spartan South Midlands side Codicote and will have to do it all again on Tuesday with the winners entertaining Aveley at home.

Jack West and Elliott Johnson made there first starts of the season.

In a scrappy opening, it took 18 minutes for the first effort of the afternoon when home striker Ben L’Honore hit the inside of the post direct from a free kick. This livened the Dockers up and two minutes later took the lead.

An in-swinging free kick by Carlile saw Harry Cook rise and head home past the hapless keeper who should have saved the header. The Dockers remained dominant until half time with Ben Hunt going lose on two occasions from Carlile balls.

The Hunt almost scored just before the break, but was denied by a fine save from Barnes. Sam Stephenson also had a chance as half time approached after a mistake in defence. Aiken was introduced before the break for the injured Hunt and had a header went just wide of the post. L’Honore had another chance on 55 when he blazed over. The home side kept themselves in the game without troubling Chico Ramos in the Tilbury goal as he game seemed to be petering out.

With eight minutes to go substitute Danny Aldwinckle was one on one with the keeper and the keeper on this occasion won as he saved low.

Codicote got the all important equaliser with 5 minutes remaining when a high ball bobbled around the box before falling to Ray Ancliff who smashed home. In the celebrations Tilbury’s Harry Cook was elbowed in the face off the ball and no action was taken.

In the final minutes the home side looked the more likely to score, but after 7 minutes of injury time, the referee blew and the sides meet against Chadfields on Tuesday evening.

After the game manager Paul Vaughan commented. "I was disappointed that we could not see the game out at 1-0. We need to play football in the right areas. I hope to have a couple of players back for the replay".
