THE LEADER OF Thurrock UKIP has spoken of their distress at the recent illness of a fellow member.

Aveley and Uplands councillor, Maggie O’Keefe-Ray fell ill last week with a reported brain haemorrhage and is at present in Queens hospital in Romford.

Cllr Graham Snell said: "On Saturday 23rd August, Maggie was taken ill shortly after holding her surgery in Aveley. She was admitted to Basildon Hospital for observation and to undergo tests where it was determined that she had a head injury.

"On Tuesday 26th Maggie, unfortunately, took a turn for the worse and was transferred to Queens Hospital Romford where they have a specialist head injury unit capable of providing the care and treatment she needed.

"Maggie has been quite poorly but I am pleased to say that she is now showing positive signs of recovery.

"All of us in the UKIP Group send Maggie our love and all our thoughts are with her and Robert at this difficult time".
