THE DAY of reckoning is upon us when voters from Shetland to Dumfries vote Yes or No for Scottish independence.
We asked the Labour candidates, Polly Billington and Mike Le-Surf what they thought.
Mike Le-Surf said: "With so much uncertainty surrounding a yes vote, I strongly hope that fellow Brits in Scotland will say a firm "no thanks" to independence on Thursday.
"Labour plans to devolve more decision making powers to Scotland and regions of England over the coming years but our country is far stronger together as part of the United Kingdom.
"Nations making themselves smaller is not the direction we should be travelling in during these difficult economic times. We are all richer for our diverse British culture and long may it continue."
Polly Billington said: "We achieve more together than we do alone. Our country has a unique history in being a United Kingdom and has achieved amazing things.
"We wouldn’t have built the NHS, that everyone is our country has benefitted from, without working together to make it happen. Working people in England and Scotland have much more in common than anything that divides them, and I believe we should make the most of that to build a better future together.
"I understand the frustrations of Scottish people who are angry about Tory government, but we in England are too, and we need each other if we are going to make our whole country a better place to live".
