Update: 0930 hrs
POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a road collision in North Road, South Ockendon where a man died.
It happened at around 8.15pm on Thursday, January 22. A blue Ford Focus estate was in collision with a black Ford Kuga.
The driver of the Focus, a 77-year-old man from Upminster, was sadly declared dead at the scene. A 50-year-old South Ockendon woman who was driving the Kuga was taken to the Royal London Hospital for treatment for injuries which are not thought to be life threatening.
The road was closed for around six hours whilst the vehicles were recovered and investigations were carried out at the scene.

Update: 2230 hrs
ECFRS cres were called to assist at the scene of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles with one casualty trapped in each.
London firefighters extricated both casualties. They were left in the care of Ambulance Service paramedics.
One fatality was confirmed at the scene. No action was required from Essex crews. They left the scene at 21:35 hrs.

ESSEX Police has reported that there has been a serious accident on North Road, Ockendon.
YT understands that the road may be closed for several hours.
North Road runs from the Tesco Garage in South Ockendon to North Ockendon.
B186 Essex – B186 in South Ockendon closed in both directions between the West Road junction and the Fen Lane junction, because of a serious accident.
