THE authorities in Thurrock have set out their plans to move a number of illegal traveller encampments in Thurrock.
Residents have complained about camps close to Grays Beach and Linford Playing Fields.
YT understands that the UKIP councillor for East Tilbury, cllr James Baker has been liaising with residents and Thurrock Council to ensure that there is a speedy resolution to the problem.
A spokesperson for Thurrock Council said: "Essex Council Traveller Unit should be serving Direction to Leave Notices on the three encampments today.
These will stipulate 24hrs for the encampments to vacate.
"If not complied with, ECTU will escalate legal proceedings from Monday".
An Essex Police spokesperson said: "Police have received reports of travellers moving onto a playing field near to Muckingford Road, Linford on Thursday June 11.
"Officers attended the scene and spoke to the travellers and are liaising with the council".
