ESSEX Police are investigating an incident where a group of teenagers shouted racial abuse at a visiting cricket team playing at the Recreation Ground in Cliff Place, South Ockendon, on Sunday, July 25.
YT understands that Belhus CC were playing at home to Hainault and Clayhall in a league fixture.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
A spokesperson for Belhus CC said: "We are able to confirm that we have received reports of alleged racial abuse and taunts at one of our matches by persons not connected with cricket.
"The alleged incidents occurred in a public park in the Thurrock area. As investigations are currently ongoing by the relevant authorities, no further comments will be made at this stage."
