BELHUS is now the obesity capital of Thurrock claimed a leading Thurrock councillor last week.
The deputy leader of Thurrock Council, cllr Barbara Rice made the announcement at a recent cabinet meeting.
Cllr Rice informed the meeting that due to a number of initiatives, obesity levels in Tilbury had fallen, meaning that the much-maligned town was no longer bottom of the Thurrock obesity league.
At that point, cllr Rice pointed out that Belhus was now at the bottom of the league.
YT did ask Thurrock Council to provide evidence that this was the case but they have not, as yet, got back to us.
