Statement from Essex Fire Service
Firefighters were called to reports of a power line on fire. On arrival, crews found a large cable from a sub station was sparking.
Firefighters made the area safe while awaiting the attendance of the Electricity Board.
Crews left the incident in the care of the Electricity Board at 22:12hrs.

THERE are reports of power cuts across the east of the borough.
Residents in the Stanford-le-Hope and East Tilbury have reported outages.
Some believe that an outage or arching in a power station in East Tilbury may be partly responsible.
