THURROCK Hockey Club’s Jessica Mager has earned her Jack Petchey Award.
Thurrock Hockey Club President, Glenda Stephens explains why: “At the start of this season, Jessica was only training with the minis since which time has now integrated and is now training fully with the women’s club and played her first game woman league game the moment she was allowed as has only just turned 13.
She has shown incredible commitment, turning up every week and willingness to learn and always keen to improve and has fitting in really well, even to participating in drills alongside the first team girls.
Even before she was eligible to play would give up her Saturday to come to 3rd team matches and sit on the bench with her Dad, in order to build up her understanding of Women’s league hockey and so she could learn from half time talks etc.
“She has helped with teas and this week even had her Dad helping with teas for her team”.
