Letter to Editor: Mayor praises swift action over unlawful encampment in Chafford Hundred

So many times the Council gets criticised for being slow to respond to issues affecting residents. Not so!

Last week Tuesday saw travellers encamp on a community field in Chafford Hundred, much to the dismay and concern by residents.

I, along with residents reported this straight away and I was quite pleased with the prompt action they took.

The police visited the location the night they settled in and the very next day Essex Countywide Traveller Unit visited. A day later the order to vacate the site was issued and by Friday they were gone.

Brilliant collaboration between the Council, the Police and ECTU. A job well done.
