The boys can be proud of their achievement in getting to the final and although they will be disappointed, they have nothing to be ashamed of.
They will, however, regret not taking their chances in the first half as they had the wind and the slight slope at the West Ham Youth Academy pitches, behind them.
Despite hitting the woodwork on several occasions and totally dominating possession, you just knew what was going to happen: Barking scored on what was their first attack.
The second half was plain sailing for Barking as they played a measured, faultless game while Thurrock just couldn’t break through.
Finally, well done to the staff and players: fantastic discipline and attitude. A credit to the borough.
