Its always been the best in the county . Twelve years ago on a brigade open day you would have seen maybe a handful of people going through the doors of Grays fire station. Then the revolution .
Under the stewardship of Grays Firefighter Roger Pickett ,open day materialised into a big event. If the sun shone you could expect 3000 people to turn up.
They even spread the event over two days at one time. Roger has retired now and is the excellent museum curator and organisation is down to another. White Watches Dave Purkiss is the brains now and although the event is slightly more modest than of previous years there ‘s still plenty to do.
