You may know this but if you are scratching around for something to do and money’s a bit too tight to mention then a visit to the RSPB Rainham marshes centre at Purfleet could be a good idea.
Formerely the Purfleet Rifle Ranges then earmarked for Eurodisney the area had been left abandoned and was only used for dumping stolen cars and burning copper wire.
The RSPB moved in and what a great job they have done. If you like a nice walk then this is the place . The kids will love it too. And you don’t need to bird watch if you don’t want to!
The centre is absolutley free for residents of Thurrock and Havering
