Wednesday 10 June saw the grand re-opening of Corringham library, in St. John’s Way.
Work started in December 2008, and since then the library has been given a complete refit so it can offer the community a modern and stylish place to visit.
Cllr Eddie Hardiman, Deputy Mayor for Thurrock kicked off proceedings by cutting the ribbon, announcing the opening.
The venue has also been equipped with new sun pipes and a heating/air conditioning system that enables it to be more environmentally friendly.
A new feature on offer is the self-issue borrowing system. It is also WiFi enabled so customers can bring in their own laptops and connect to the internet.
A meeting room is available for hire with an interactive whiteboard for any local groups or businesses to use.
Current activities available include: baby rhymetime; a reading group for adults and chatterbooks for year 6 pupils.
Youth workers are on hand to offer practical advice and guidance every Thursday.
